In addition to advising and managing varied client portfolios Russell is the director responsible for training - an important facet of the business.
After graduating from the University of Wales in Cardiff with a degree in economics, Russell worked in the institutional fund management industry for ten years. He was a fund manager with Murray Johnstone and then Norwich Union (Aviva) before joining Speirs & Jeffrey in 1997. He became a director in 1999.
Outside S&J, Russell is actively involved in the management of several charities. He serves on the investment committee of the major Scottish charity - Erskine - and is Deacon of the Incorporation of Hammermen - one of the 14 crafts within the Trades House of Glasgow.
